Description
UNITED STATES .PATENT OFFICE..
J. H. PARSONS, oF QUINGY, MICHIGAN.
FOOT-WARMER.
Specification forming part ofLettevs Patent N0. 52,593, dated February 13, 1866.
To all whom it may concern:
.'Be it known that I, J. II. PARsONs,ot` Quinoy, in the county ot' Branch and State of Michi gan, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Foot-Warmers; and I do hereby d-e- 'clare that. the following is a. full, clear, and exact description thereof', which will enable those skilled in the art to make and use the saine, reference bein g had to the accompanylngdrawings, forming part-,of this specification, in which- .Y A
Figure 1 is a side View, partly in section, through the line .e Fig. 2, of my improved warmer. Fig. 2 is a top View ot'lthe same.
Similar letters ot' reference` indicate corresponding parts.
The object of my invention is to'l'urnish a foot-Warmer by means of which the feet 'may be warmed conveniently without danger of burning the soles ot' the boots orx shoeswhile warming the feet; and it consists of a box or drum resting on the iioor of the room and conneeted with the stove-pipe by small pipes, as hereinafter more fully described.
I make the bottom and ends of the Warmer A ot wood, and line them on the inside with sheet-iron. The top and side of the warmer I make of sheet-iron. In the front side of the Warmer I, form an opening, which maybe closed by a cap or sliding door, B. Through this openihg the warmer may be cleaned out when necessary. In the backside qot' the warmer A, I forni two holes for the attachment of two small pipes, C and D. lThese pipesl lead from the warmer- A to the stove-pipe 'E,
which they enter, the one a lttle higher up than the other, so as to leave suiiicient space between the openings through which they enter the said pipe E for a damper', F. 'The box or drum A may be niade of any desired shape or size, and the pipes G and I) should be so large as to convey enough heated air to the warmer to heat it suiciently. When used the d rum or box A ofthe warmer is placed.
uponthe floor and connected with the pipe E by the pipes C and D.
- By turning the damper F the heated Aair isv made to enter the lower pipe, U, pass through said pipe to the drum or box A, which it heats: thence it passes through the pipeD to the stoycpipe E, above the damper F.
I claim. as new and desire to secure by Letters Patentv A foot-warmer formed by connecting the drum Aorbox Aof the warmer with an ordinary stove-pipe by means of the small pipes C and D, substantially as described, and for the purpose set forth.
` J. H. PARSONS,
