RUBBER STAMP.

.To all whom; it may concern:

Be it known that I, GEORGE ALEXANDER PIOKUP, a citizen of the United States, residing at Shelbyville, in the county of Bedford and State of Tennessee, have invented anew and useful Rubber Stamp, of which the following is a specification.

The invention relates to improvements in hand stamps.

The object of the present invention is to lmprove the construction of hand stamps and to provide a simple and inexpensive one adapted for the reception of detachable rubber type, and capable of being readily ad justed for the reception of solid rubber type and of securely retaining the same.

The invention consists in the construction and novel combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter fully described, illustrated 1n the accompanying drawings and pointed out in the claims hereto appended.

In the drawings-Figure 1 is an inverted perspective of a hand stamp constructed in accordance with this invention. Fig. 2 is an end elevation of the same. Fig. 3 is a transverse sectional view. Fig. 4: is a detail per-j spective view of one of the adjustable clamping bars.

Like numerals of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the figures of the drawings'.

1 designates a block or body having a handle 2, secured to its upper face and provided on its lower face at opposite ends thereof, transverse guide-bars 3, arranged ashort distance below the lower face of the block or body, and having upturned ends forming securing plates or flanges 4.

The type, which is preferably constructed of rubber and which is solid, is secured to the body or block by a series of adjustable bars 5, having centrally bifurcated or slotted ends 6, receiving the transverse guide-bars 3.

' The adjustable clamping bars are round or rounded, they may be of any desired number and of any length to correspond with the character of stamp, and they engage the side edges of, the solid type intermediate of the upper and lower faces of the same, which is the most advantageous point, as it affords a fiat bearing for the type on the block and prevents any liability of compressing the outer face of the type.

The adjustable bars may be moved along place, and at the same time may be readily detachable to enable the stamp to be changed as desired.

"It will be seen that the stamp is exceedingly simple and inexpensive in construction, that the type are solid and have straight edges and are not of any peculiar construction, and that they are readily removable and replaceable. It will also be apparent that the adjustable clamping bars may be readily arranged to form the desired type spaces.

Changes in the form, proportion and minor details of construction may be resorted to without'departing from the spirit or sacrificing any of the advantages of this invention.

Having described my invention, what I claim is 1. A hand stamp adapted forth'e reception of solid rubber type and provided with parallel guide-bars and having rounded clamping bars slidingly mounted on the guide-bars and. adapted to engage the type between the upper and lower faces thereof, substantially as described.

2. A hand stamp provided with parallel guide-bars and having rounded clamping bars 'slottedor bifurcated at their ends to receive the guide-bars whereby they are slidingly mounted thereon, substantially as described.

8. A hand stamp comprising a block or body, a handle, the guide bars arranged on the lower face of the block or body and separated therefrom by a space and having their ends bent upward and secured to the blockor body, and the rounded clamping bars having openings at their ends receiving the guidebars whereby they are adjustably. mounted thereon, substantially as described.
