UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
CHARLES MILLER, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
TOY.
SPECIFICATI ON forming part of Letters Patent No. 520,070, dated May 22, 1894.
Application filed November 23, 1893. Serial No. .713. (No model.)
T0 at whom it may concern.-
Be it known that 1, CHARLES MILLER, a sub ject of the Queen of Great Britain and Ireland, residing in the city and county of New York, State of New York, have invented a certain'new and useful Improvement in Toys, of which the following is a specification.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a top view of my toy, and Fig. 2 shows asection through w-m.
My toy consists of a base A having a pe ripheral track T on which a ball can be lodged. From this track sloping sides lead down to a central portion in which are openings E E F F circularly disposed around a central opening G. These openings E E F F may be either indentations or holes and either set of openings may be omitted. The object of the game is to lodgethe ball on the said peripheral track and then by poising and counterpoising the case rolling the ball down the sloping sides over the paths between the openings E E F F to the central opening G, into which it drops. This central openingis guarded on three sides by the figure of a hen H or other animal having movable members as wings \V W, and an opening 0 through which the ball rolls into the central hole. Obstructing the central hole is a spring S connected by cords O to levers L L, which are attached to the wings so that when the ball B drops into the central opening the spring is struck and the wings, or such movable members as are used, move.
Having now fully described my invention, what I claim as new therein, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
A toy, consisting of a base with a peripheral track, sides sloping toward the center, in combination with a central opening covered by the figure of an animal with movable members, a passage way through the animal to said central opening, a spring across said central opening and connected with said movable members, substantially as described.
