00' TOR PIPE FASTENER. I No. 518,943. Patented May 1, 1894.

U ITED STATES P TENT OFFICE.
JAMES H. ELLER, OF CANTON, OHIO.
CONDUCTOR-PIPE FASTEN ER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 518,943, datedMay 1, 1894.
Application filed January 4, 1 8 94. Serial ITO-495,618. (No model.)
T0 at whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JAMES H. ELLER,a citizen of the United States, residing at Canton, in the county of Stark and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and usefulImprovements in Conductor-Pipe Fasteners; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawings, making a part of this specification, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, in which Figure 1, is a View, showing a portion of a conductor pipe properly attached. Fig. 2, is
an end view of the conductor "pipe, showing the fastener properly applied to the pipe. Figs. 3 and 4, are views, showing the joint ends of two'pipe sections. Fig. 5 is a transverse section of an octagonal pipe. Fig. 6, is an end view of the spike, showing the eccentric placed in position to receive the flange of the pipe. Fig. 7, is an end view of the spike, showing the eccentric in position to hold or engage the flange of a pipe. is a perspective view, showing a portion of the spike, and itseocentric.
The present invention has relation to con: ductor pipe fasteners, and it consists in the difierent parts, and combination of parts hereinafter described, and particularly pointed out in the claim.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the figures of the drawrugs.
In the accompanying drawings A, represents the pipe sections, which may be formed of any desiredlength and size or shape, and as shown said pipe sections are provided with the L shaped flanges a, which flanges are formed by bending a portion of the extended metal composing the pipe substantially at right angles as illustrated in the drawings thereby providing an extended flange, which extended flange is for the purpose hereinafter described. The spike Bis formed of such a size, that when driven into a wall, it will securely hold the pipe in proper position.
The outer end of the spike B, is provided with the driving headb; to one side of which driving head is located the eccentric O, which eccentric is held in proper position by means of the rivet c or its equivalent. The eccenthe pipe proper has been placed in the desired position with reference to the spikes B, and their eccentrics, the arms d are turned uppward, thereby bringing the eccentric against the face of the flange and under the right angled portion of said flange, thereby securing the pipe to the spikes.
It will be understood, that by my peculiar arrangement I am enabled to easily remove old conductor pipes from the fasteners proper, and attach new pipe thereto, without disturbing the spikes B.' Fig. 8,
For the purpose of causing the eccentric O to properly clamp the L shaped flange, the arm of said eccentric is so located that it will be above or on top of the eccentric, at the time the locking face of the eccentric is brought into contact with the flange; by which arrangement any downward movement of the conductor pipe will cause the eccentric to be automatically forced against the flange, and thereby prevent any accidental displacement of the conductor pipe.
Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is- I In a conductor pipe fastener, the combination of pipe sections provided with L shaped flanges, the spikes B, provided withdriving JAMES H. ELLER.
