SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 516,293, dated March 13, 1894.

Application filed July 17, 1893.

To all whom it may concern.-

Be it known that I, ABBONDIO BERETTA, a subject of the Queen of Great Britain, and a resident of London, England, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Drawers, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact specification thereof.

This invention relates to improvements in drawers and tables which are so constructed and arranged that the drawers can be drawn out at either side of the table, and the same is carried out in the following manner, reference being bad to the annexed drawings in which Figure 1 is a plan view of a table having the top removed and constructed according to my invention; Fig. 2 a side elevation of a Fig. 3 a cross section through line 0cy in Fig. 2 to enlarged scale.

Referring to Fig. 1, a is the drawer which rests upon the framing b, carried by legs of table m shown in section in Fig. 3.

o is an ornamental molding carried by the flange or projection 01 (Fig. 3).

e are flaps hinged to the framing at fas shown in Fig. 3. These flaps or lids carry the fillets or projecting strips g.

h are handles for opening the drawer a. The flaps are secured in their closed position Serial No. 480,678. (No model.)

by any suitable means such as the springclip i (Fig. 3) attached ,to the table top j.

is (Fig. 3) is a spring carried in the framing Z for pushing open the flap when the clip'i has been released. It will be seen that upon opening any one of the flaps orlids the drawer a may be opened at that side of the table at which the lid or flap e is open. The flaps or lids maybe provided with boxes or partitions for containing desired articles such as-penoils or the like.

With this description of my invention, what I claim is In drawers for tables and the like, a drawer carried by a framing and having flanges or projecting sides or edges which bear against fillets or projections carried by lids or flaps hinged to the framing carrying the drawer, a spring for opening said lids or flaps and a clip for securing themin their closed position substantially as described and illustrated.
