RIBBON HOLDER.
No. 616,051. Patented Mar. 6, 1894.
\A/TJEEEES... W
UNITED STATES PATENT FFICE.
ALFRED E. HARTZELL, 0F NORMAN, OKLAHOMA TERRITORY.
RIBBON-HOLDER.
SPEGIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 516,051, dated March 6, 1894. Application filed September 19, 1893. Serial No. 485,832 (No model.)
To alt whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, ALFRED E. HABTZELL, of Norman, in the county of Oklahoma and Territory of Oklahoma, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Ribbon- Holders; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it pertains to make and use it, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, which form part of this specification.
My invention relates to an improved ribbon holder; and the object of the same is to provide an improved clasp which may be readily adapted to ribbons of different widths for the purpose of holding the same wound.
Referring to the accompanying drawings Figure l is a perspective view of a bolt of ribbon having my improved clasp applied thereto. Fig. 2 is a similar view of the device detached.
A designates the ribbon and B the paper strip which are wound upon a core in the usual manner. In order to hold the free ends of the same and prevent them from unwinding I provide the loop (3 through which several layers of the material are passed so as to obtain a secure hold for the clasp. The ends of the wire from which the loop is formed are brought together and secured as shown at D.
In order that the loop may be adapted for ribbons of difierent widths I construct the same with the lateral bends or kinks E which maybe enlarged or contracted for use upon either wide or narrow ribbon.
In use as the ribbon and paper strip are drawn out by one hand the clasp may be readily pushed backward upon the bolt until all the material has been unwound.
While I here show the device formed of wire it is not my desire to be limited to such formation as it is apparent the loop may be formed without a joint.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is Y An improved ribbon holder comprising a loop for the accommodation of two or more strands of ribbon and paper strip, said loop being formed of a single piece of wire having its ends secured together to close the same, and a plurality of kinks in the upper and lower bars of the loop, substantially as shown and described.
In testimony whereof Iaflix my signature in presence of two witnesses,
ALFRED E. HARTZELL.
