COMPOUND POCKET lMPLEMENT.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 515,973, dated March 6, 1894. Application filed September 11, 1893- Serial No. 485,288. (No model.)

To all whom it may concern.-

Be it known that I, JOHN C. SOHLARBAUM, a citizen of the United States, residing in the city and county of San Francisco, State of California, have invented a new and useful Compound Pocket Implement, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to that class of implements that are attached to a key ring and usually carried in a pocket about the person the object being to produce an implement combining several articles in miniature form that are almost daily required for use.

To this end my invention consists in combining with a plate or holder that can be easily carried about the person a screw-driver, a cork-screw, a knife sharpener and a glass cutter in place of a glaziers diamond all contained in a small compass and handy for use.

In the accompanying drawings which form part of this specification :-Figure1 is a View of my pocket implement closed. Fig. 2 is a back view of the same opened for use. Fig. 3 is a view of the plate showing the front side. Fig. 4 is a side view or edge View of Fig. 3.

The plate A of my compound implement is made oval or other suitable shape and of sufficient thickness to hold and sustain the requisite tools and a loop or hole Bis formed in the edge for a chain or ring attachment; on one edge in an extension C formed integral with the plate and upon this is riveted a plate O or instead of this plate the extension 0 is made sufficiently longer to be bent over and forms a recess (1 to receive a glass cutting disk or wheel D. A pin e passing through both plates forms the axis or spindle for the disk D. These plates also receive the bent shank of a cork-screw G, the end of which is set through both plates and upset on the outside to form a head while the shank is fitted to turn in the plates, so that the cork-screw can be turned to stand out from the end of the plate as shown in Fig. 2, or it can be shut upon the plate as shown in Fig. 1 for the pocket.

0n the side of the plate opposite to the cork-screw are made two arms or extensions a a to form supports fortwo disks or wheels E E and the arms are bent slightly out of line to let one disk overlap the other at the adjacent sides. These disks form the knife or scis sor-sharpener. The metal being cut away between these extensions on a semi-circle produces the recessF that lets in the point ofthe cork-screw when it is closed on the plate.

On the edge of the plate opposite to the eye B is formed the screw-driver H as shown, so that when attached to the key-chain of the person the screw-driver will be on the lower edge of the plate.

As thus constructed a handy and useful implement is produced embodied in a small space or compass.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patout, is

The herein -described pocket implement consisting of a Hat disk-shaped body having at one side two projecting ears, with sharpeuing disks pivoted thereon, and at the opposite side a projecting lug with a glass-cutting wheel pivoted therein and provided at intermediate points on the edges of said flat body with a projecting screw-driving blade and an eye or aperture for inserting a key ring, in combination with a cork-screw attached by one end to said fiat body and adapted to fold up and lie across said body when not in use constructed substantially as herein set forth.
