TELEPHONE-DIRECTORY HOLDER.
SPECIFICATION formingpart of Letters Patent No. 515,921, dated March 6, 1894,
Application filed February 11, 1893.
To all whom it may concern:
Be itknown thatLCHAELEsG.MoCLosKEY, Jr., a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Cleveland, in the connty of Cuyahoga and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and usefullmprovements in Telephone-Directory Holders, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to holders for telephone directories and pamphlets of similar character and consists in the novel construe: tion and combinations substantially as hereinafter described and pointed out in the claim. In the accompanying drawings:Fignre 1 is a perspective view of my new holder, showing a directory pamphlet attached. Fig. 2 represents a bolt and lugs for securing the upper corner of the pamphlet.
The objects of my invention are to provide a convenient holder for a telephone directory of the book may be readily turned and the pages held by the free hand of the operator, while the other hand is engaged in holding the receiver. This will enable the operator to readily hold the book open and keep the number desired in full view and avoid mistakes liable in trusting to memory.
A represents a suitable base plate or board Serial No. 461.990- (No modelil which may be made of wood or other suitable material, having a slot in its central part in which the back of the book rests.
B is a bolt fixed in lugs or cars C C, at each side of the top end of the said slot, and passes through a hole in the upper back corner of the book, by means of which the hook is removably secured in the said slot. Beneath the said slot on the board or base A, is provided a shelf D, for holding a tablet, I. On the board A are also provided slides E E, for holding cards or blank paper sheets upon which memoranda or special numbers may be written.
Having described my invention, I claim- In a telephone directory pamphlet holder the combination of a back or base board A, logs or ears 0 O secured to said back at the upper end of a vertical slot, 2. bolt B inserted in the said ears and through a hole in the upper corner of the back of the pamphlet for supporting the same in the slot, and a shelf D mounted on the back below said slot and pamphlet, substantially as described and for the purpose set forth.
