UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
REINHOLD KROHN, on STERKRADE, GERMANY.
TABLE-KNIFE.
SPEGIFICATIGN forming part of Letters Patent No. 515,77*?, dated March 6, 1894.
Application filed June 28, 1893. Serial No. 479.043- (NO modem .To @ZZ whom t may con/cern:
Be it known that I, REINHOLD KROHN, a subject of the King of Prussia, residing at Sterkrade, in the Kingdom of Prussia, Germany, have invented new and useful Improvements in orRelating to Table-Knives, of which the following is a specification.r
The present invention relates to a tableltuife which, in combination with a supplemental spring blade, is specially applicable for cutting and serving fish.
As maybe seen from the accompanying drawings, Figures l and 2 of which show respectively a back and side view of the new device, the latter consists -of a table-knife with a blade K, at the side of which a spring f is arranged in such a manner that the latv ter, when the knife is not being used, is at a short distance from and parallel to the blade. By a slight pressure on the spring at d where the spring is enlarged it may be pressed to- Ward the blade and thus, in combination with the blade, forms a pair of tongs.
After the fish is cut by means of the blade, the bones may be seized and pulled out by means of the spring. Instead of a fixed or rigid blade and a flexible blade two yielding blades may be used, which when pressed against each other form the usual blade of the fish-knife. The new knife may be made of silver or other suitable metal or alloy.
Having now particularly described and ascertained the nature of this said invention and in what manner the same isto be performed, I declare that what I claim is- In combination with a knife blade K, a supplemental springblade f, adapted tobe pressed toward the main blade, said spring blade havinga nger piece d, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I have signed my naine to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
REINHOLD KROHN.
