ATTACHM ENT FOR COOK-STOVES.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 513,967, dated January 30, 1894.

To all whom it may concern.-

Be it known that I, ALBERT O. GOEDDEL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Pittsburg, in the county of Allegheny and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Attachments for (look-Stoves; audI do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it pertains to make and use the same, reference being. had to the accompanying drawings, which form a part of this specification.

My invention relates to an improved attachment for cook stoves using gas for fuel, and consists in certain details of construction and combination of parts as will be fully described hereinafter. v

In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a plan view of my improved device which is constructed in accordance with my invention. Fig. 2 is a plan view of the under pan, showing a portion of the top revolved about its pivotal point. Fig. 3 is a sectional sideelevation of my improved device, said section taken on the line XYX.

To put my invention into practice I provide a pan 1 of a suitable size and form of construction, and adapted to fit into the top of an ordinary cook stove by removing four of the lids and the cross piece of the same. This pan 1 is provided with a slide valve 3 located at the rear, for the purpose of creating a draft to the chimney if so desired. Attached to the top of the pan 1 by means of a removable pivot 7 is a top piece 4 consisting of a plate having four annular openings 5 formed therein of the same size as the lids of the stove upon which my improved device is used. These -openings 5 are covered with the lids removed from the stove, and each opening provided with a burner 6, and independent branch pipe 9 leading to the main supply pipe 8. Each of these branch pipes 9 is provided with avalve 11 operated by a hand apparatus may be used as a garbage burner by placing the refuse from the table in the bottom of the pan 1 and opening the slide valve 3 at the rear to permit the waste products of combustion to escape into the chimney. This valve 3 is opened when it isdesired to heat the water back at the rear of the stove.

Having thus described myinvention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

An attachment for gas stoves comprising a metallic pan or casing fitted to the top of the stove and forming the top portion thereof and projecting down into the stove a prescribed distance to form a housing for the burners and other parts; a hinged lid or cover for the pan or casing provided with ports or openings to receive the ordinary stove lids or covers, and removably pivoted to said pan or casing; a gas burner under each port or opening; a branch supply-pipe for each burner; a controlling valve for each branch pipe; and a draft regulator covering and opening into the casing, which communicates with the chimney.
