Description

UNITED STATES PATENT OF ICE.
ANDERSON M. IDOL, OF HIGH POINT, NORTH oAROLINA.
LADYISVWORK-TABLE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Ratfeht No. 510,509, dated December 12, 1893. Application filed February 14, I893. Serial No. 4.62.290- (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ANDERSON M. IDOL, a citizen of the United States, residing at High Point, in the county of Guilford and State of North Carolina, have invented a new and useful Ladys Work-Table, of which the following is a specification.
The invention relates to improvements in ladies work tables. J
The object of the present invention is to provide a simple and inexpensive work table, on which spools may be conveniently arranged, and which will serve to hold in a convenient manner the various articles employed in sewing.
The invention consists in the construction and novel combination "and arrangement of parts hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and pointed out in the claim hereto appended.
In the drawings-Figure 1 is a perspective.
view of a ladys work-table constructed in accord ance with this invention. Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional view of the same.
Like numerals of reference indicate corresponding parts in both figures of the drawings.
1 designates a round top table having a drawer 2 and provided at the center of its'top with a central opening 3, in which is seated a pivot 4 provided with a central ornamental enlargement 5, providing shoulders for fitting against the top of the table and for afiording a seat for a disk 6. The disk 6 is provided on its lower face with a cleat 7 having a socket 8 to receive the upper portion of the pivot 4; and the disk is provided near its periphery with a circular series of perforations 7 adapted for the reception of removable spool spindles 8. Each spool spindle is provided with an enlargement 9, to form spool seats and has its lower portion arranged in one of the perforations 7 The upper portion of the spindle is designed to receive spools, and is preferably of a length to receive two spools. Within the circle of spool spindles may be conveniently arranged a pin cushion, oralam p. By rotating the disk 6 any spool or spindle may be brought within easy reach, and the arrangement of the spools on the spindle will effectually prevent the contents of the spools becoming tangled.
It will be seen that the work table is simple and inexpensive in construction and will enable the articles necessary for sewing to be within convenient reach.
Changes in the form, proportion and the minor details of construction may be resorted to without departing from the principle, or sacrificing any of the advantages of this invention.
' What I claim is- The combination of a table provided at its top with 'a'pivot opening, a vertical pivot having-its lower portion arranged in the opening of the table and provided with an intermediate enlargement 5 forming a stop at its bottom and providing a seat at its top, a disk provided with a circular series of perforations and having a cleat secured to its lower face and provided with a socket opening and receiving the upper portion of said pivot and resting upon the seat of the enlargement 5, and a series ofdetachable elongated spool spindles provided adjacent to their lower ends with enlargements forming stops at their bottoms and seats at their tops, substantially as described.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my Own I have hereto aflfixed my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
ANDERSON M. IDOL.
