HYGIENIC VAPOR AND HOT-AIR R ENOVATOR.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 510,235,dated December 5, 1893.

To all whom it may concern.-
lle it known that I, HARRY I. BLITS, of New York, in the county of New York, andState of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Hygienic Vapor and Hot-Air Renovators; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact devapor and hot air renovators and has pal-lieular reference to an inhaler and vapor spray for catarrh, colds and headache, and also for renovating the hair and scalp and clean ing the head and face.
My invention consists in an apparatus for this purpose as' hereinafter set forth and claimed.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure l is an elevation of the invention. Fig. 2 represents details of the wire head screen and Fig. 3 is a longitudinal section of an inhaler spray nozzle.
' 1 represents a cylinder to which a vapor or other stove can be attached to generate hot air and steam. To the cylinder 1 is removably secured the receptacle 2, by means of the flange 3 on the lower periphery, which embracesthe top of the said cylinder as shown. The top of the cylinder is closed by means of the lid 6, which is provided with the pipe nipples 8 and 9 and escapement 6. The nipple 9 is provided with a removable cap 9' and may be used for the attachment of a pipe for hygienic purposes.
To the nipple 8 is secured the pipe 20, suitably braced by the rods 21. To the pipe 20 is adjustably attached a conveyer 22 provided with a damper 221 for regulating the flow of steam and hot air. The upper end of the conveyer is provided with asuitable nozzle 24. To the conveyer 22 is rigidly-secured the wire screen 25 which is provided with a hinged cover 26, to obtain access to the interior of the wire screen, and is provided with cotton or other fabric on its 1ns1de,and with the toweling 27, which completely covers the head and hair screen and protrudes out about seven inches from the end thereof, so that the head can be properly adjusted without coming in contact with the wire screen. When it is desired to treat the face, the same is placed partly in the towelingand steamed the same as the cap.
To dry the hair, the steam is cut off and thehot air is substituted.
The band-spring 28 is secured to the pipe 20 and is provided with the thumb screw 29 adapted to engage the slots 30 formed in the conveyer 22. The screen 25 is braced and secured tothe conveyer and chair by means of the hooks 31. A spray 37'is attached to pipe 20 when it may be used as an inhaler for catarrh, cold in the head, headache, earache, and other head troubles.
When head, scalp, or hair cleaning is desired, the pipe 20 is adjusted to the nipple S, the spray is connected to the'conveyein. The vapor is then generated until the scalp and hair have received the proper treatment. Then the head and hair are well washed and again placed in toweling. The boiler is then taken out and only the hot air is allowed to circulate, which quickly dries the hair.
Having described my invention, what I claim is 7 In a hygiene, vapor and hot air renovator, the combination with a'cylinder having a. lid providedwith pipe openings and removable caps, a pipe secured to one of said openings, a conveyor adj ustably secured to said pipe, a spray mouth piece secured to the conveyer and a; wire frame having a hinged opening,
substantially as shown and for the purposes set forth.
