To all whom it may concern: Be it known that I, GUSTAV OLSSON BJOR- KANDER, a citizen of the United States, resid- .to be set up in position in either single or multiple form upon tables, counters, benches,

or other convenient places, within stores,

. shops, camps, ships or wherever found useful and desirable, and has for its object to facilitate the quick adjustment or repairing of boots and shoes on lasts of diiferent sizes mounted on a rotating base by a simple arrangement of parts that can be easily manipu lated.

With this and other ends inview the invention consists of the construction and arrangement of the parts thereof as will be hereinafter more fully described and claimed.

Fig. 2 is a similar view of a counter, showing a single form of jack and last mounted on one end thereof, the last in this instance being movable. Similar numerals of reference indicate corresponding parts in the several figures of the drawings. Referring to the drawings, the numeral 1 designates a circular base plate or table, which, as shown in Fig. 1, has a series of jacks 2 rising vertically therefrom with lasts 3 rigidly mounted on the upper ends thereof and of varying sizes, the toe-portions of said lasts being turned outwardly from the center of the plate or table so as to be more quickly and readily engaged. .As shown in Fig. 2, the table 1 is provided with a single jack 4, having a movable last- 5 on the upper end thereof.

In. each of the forms set forth the plate or table 1 is rotatably mounted on the counter the table 1 is formed with an opening 7, extending vertically therethrough and having an angular recess 8 at the head thereof which, as shown, is of exact hexagonal form, though other polygonal or angular forms may be adopted if so-desired. The opening 7 aligns with an opening of similar diameter in the counter or support 6, and through both of said openings ispassed a pivot tube or sleeve 9, having a hexagonal or other polygonal or angular head 10, that is fitted to the recess 8, to cause the said table and tube to turn together and bring the wear on the walls of the opening in the counter or support 6. The lower end of the exterior surface of. the tube 9v is screw-threaded, as at 11, and over said parto'f the tube is movably mounted a washer 12, that bears against the under side of the counter -or support 6, and when said washer is in its proper position a nut 13 is turned-on the screw-threads 11 to firmly clamp and hold the said washer in position with sufficient yielding movement to permit the table 1 to be turned. I

A strap 14; is passed centrally, up through the tube or sleeve 9, and, as shown'in Fig. 1, may be caused to act with either one of the lasts thereby causing the employment of only one strap for use in connection with aplurality of lasts,said strap always being in such position as to be conveniently grasped and drawn over the last desired to be operated upon. The said strap freely moves through the tube or sleeve 9, and the upper end or part thereof that is above the table 1 is not liable to become twisted, and is therefore always ready for use, and by this means a convenient attachment is provided for holding a boot or shoe upon the last While being operated upon. The lower end of the strap 14: is secured to a lever 15, that has its rear end pivotally connected, as at 16, and at its front inner edge is formed with a raised ratchetengaging edge 17, that coacts with the segmental ratchet 18, adjacently secured to the support of the upper part6, and by which means a proper tensionon the strap over the vices; and it will. also beseen thata double nut is employed in oonnectionwith thelower end of the tube or sleeve 9 in orderto obtain an adjustment of the washer against the under side of the support of the table with its jacks or jack, and to sustain said adjustment to such a degree as to suit the operator.
