Description
UNITED STATES PATENT OEEICE.
lCORNELIUS N. ADDISON, OF GRAND HAVEN, MICHIGAN.
BRooM-HoLDER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 502,843, dated August 8, 1893.
Application led June 30, 1892. Serial No. 438,524. (No model.)
To @ZZ whom t may concern.-
Be it known thatLCoENELIUs N. ADDISON, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Grand Haven, in the county of Ottawa and State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Broom-Holders; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification. l
Figure l is a plan view of the holder. Fig. 2 is a transverse section on the line -x of Fig. l.
This invention has relation to certain new and useful improvements in broom holders, the object being to provide a simple, conven ient and inexpensive device for use by Inerchants for holding and displaying a series of brooms, said device being capable of attachment to a wall or post, so that lioor space may be economized.
With this object in view, the invention consists in the novel construction and combination of parts, all as hereinafter specified.
In the accompanyingdrawings the letterA designates a plate or bracket, having rigidly secured thereto, one end of an elongated bar H, which projects at substantially right angles thereto. Each lateral face of the bar is provided with a series of parallel clasps or fingers h, each pair of which is designed to engage or receive the handle of a broom. The clasps or fingers on the two faces of the bar are arranged alternately of each other, so that the brooms held therein will not interfere with each other. j Y
The plate or bracket A may be provided with a series of screw seats for its ready attachment to the desired support, or, as shown, a single perforation g may be formed in its upper portion, having an enlarged portion g which may be passed over the head of a nail or screw, and a neck portion designed to engage a nail or screw.
It will be seen that the device described may be conveniently put up in a store or market, and is capable of holding and displaying a sufficiently large number of brooms without encroaching upon the iloor space. Also that any particular broom desired may be removed from the holderwithout disturbing the others.
Having described this invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, 1s-
rPhe herein described broom holder, comprising a plate A provided with means for itsattachment to a suitable support, an elongated horizontal bar projecting from said plate, and a series of clasps or fingers integral with said bar, and projecting at right angles from each lateral face thereof, said clasps or fingers being arranged in pairs separated from each other a short distance along the bar, said pairs being arranged alternately on the two sides of the bar, substantially as specified.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
CORNELIUS N. ADDISON.
Witnesses:
JACOB BAAR, ALBERT RYsDoN.
