Be it known that I, JAMES PONISI, of New York city, in the county and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Window-Larder, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description. l

My invention relates to improvementsv in window larders or boxes, which are adapted to be placed upon a window sill and fastened outparts, as will be hereinafter described and claimed.

Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings forming 'a part of this specification, in which similar figures of reference indicate corresponding parts in both the views.

Figure 1 is an outside elevation of the box as applied to a window and with a portion broken away to show the adjustable base 'of the box. Fig. 2 is a cross section on the line 2 2 in Fig. 1.

The box 10 may be of any approved shape, although it is provided with a slanting cover 11 which overhangs the outerside of the box, and the box is of such a length that it will fit within the frame of any ordinary window. Beneath the bottom 12 of the box is a longitudinal slideway 13, in which are held the slides 14 which serve as a base foi` the box and which are adapted to projectV outward from the ends of the box so as to fit snugly between the easement Walls of the window.

The box is adapted to rest upon the window- 'sill 14, and when the slides are properly adjusted they may be fastened firmly to the sill by means of screws or equivalent fastenings. Beneath the slides 14 is prcferablya false bottom 15, although this may be dispensed with if desired. On the outer portions of the slides are upwardly and inwardly extending curved braces 16, which at their lower ends are secured firmly to the slides and which at their upper ends are adapted to be secured to the frame of the window, as ,shown at 17 in Fig. 1. On the inner side of the box is a swinging lid 18, which is adapted to lie fiatwise upon the window-sill when the lid is open, and this lid has near its upper or free edge a knob or handle 19, and it is provided with a suitable catch or lock 20 which is not shown in detail but which may be of any approved construction. It will be seen that this box maybe easily and securely fastened in place on a window-sill by fastening the base, that is, the slides 14, to the sill, and the braces 16 to the window-frame, and when in this position the box may be conveniently used. The overhanging top prevents the box from leaking, and if desired this top may be made of non-conducting inaterial so that it will prevent the box and its contents from being heated by the sun.

Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patente- A window larder, comprising a box having a lid on one side and a slideway in the bottom, movable slides held in the slideway and adapted to project beyond the box ends, and braces secured to the slides and adapted to connect with a window frame, substantially as described.
