Patented Mar. 14, 1893 1- 91! I UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
WILLIAM S. NEVINS, OF TERRE HAUTE, INDIANA.
REFLECTOR AND BRACKET FOR LAMPS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 493,284, dated March 14, 1893. Application filed April 25, 1892. Serial No. 430,513. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that 1, WILLIAM S. NEVINS, of Terre Haute, in the county of Vigo and State of Indiana, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Reflectors and Brackets for Lamps; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon.
The object of my invention is to provide a cheap and convenient reflector and bracket for ordinary lamps.
In the drawings accompanying this specification, Figure l is a perspective view of my invention showing the reflector and bracket attached to the lamp. Fig. 2 is a detail view of the reflector, and Fig. 3 is a detail view of the bracket.
The bracket is made of a single piece of wire bent back upon itself to pass around the neck of the lamp. It rests on the bowl of the lamp at A. and presses against the burner at- B. A clasp and pivot O for the reflector is formed on one end of the bracket and a seat 011 the other end at D. When the reflector is detached from the seat atD. it can be turned on the pivot at c. and by springing the bracket apart it can be passed around the burner to readily attach or detach the same from the lamp.
The reflector may be made of any suitable material and is to be turned back or doubled upon itself at e, so as to form a smooth surface for receiving the clasp on the bracket. It is provided with a hole at F. for receiving the pivot C.
This reflector and bracket may be used on any ordinary lamp and are easily attached and removed.
I claim as my invention The combination with the lamp of a bracket form ed of a single piece of wire bent back upon itself, and provided at one end with a seat, and at the other with a clasp and pivot, and a reflector having a straight edge portion and perforated to receive the pivot, substantially as shown and described.
