DISPLAY-CARD FOR JEWELRY.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 488,932, dated December 27, 1892.

To all whom it may concern.-

Be it known that I, HENRY WOLCOTT, a citizen of the United States, residing at Providence, in the State of Rhode Island, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Display-Cards for Jewelry, of which the following is a specification.

My invention consists in the improved construction of the card, whereby it is adapted to form a stand for the display of the article of jewelry attached thereto, as hereinafter fully set forth.

Figure 1, represents a plan view of several superposed strips of paper of which my improved display card may be formed. Fig. 2, represents an edge view of the same, showing the separate strips. Fig. 3, represents the strips shown in Fig. 1, as folded in the mid dle. Fig. 4, represents the ends of the folded strips, as turned inwardly. Fig. 5, represents the completely folded card. Fig. 6, represents an enlarged edge view of the same. Fig. 7, represents a perspective view of the card in use.

In the accompanyingdrawings, Arepresents a layer of paper strips or, a, a, of which my improved card may be formed, the said layer being either composed of any desired number of superposed strips, or of a single narrowly folded sheet of paper. This is first folded at the middle fold-line g, as shown in Fig. 3, the end portions 0 are then folded back from the fold line h, as shown in Fig. 4, and the previously turned middle portion g, folded onto the said end portions from the fold line d, as The folded paper card may now be provided with one or more holes f, for the ready attachment of the article of jewelry, and the card so formed will have the turned edges g, h, and d, and thus present a finished appearance, and when it is desired to use the card in an upright position, for displaying the article of jewelry in a window or show-case, the same may be effected by simply spreading the folded ends 9 and 72. as shown in Fig. '7.

In the manufacture of my improved card, I prefer to employlayers of tissue paper,which may be folded in several ways to carry out my invention, and the folded card, may be printed and ornamented, as desired.

I claim as my invention:

1. A display card for jewelry, formed of loosely folded layers of paper, so as to present the folded edges g, 71, and d, the several layers being perforated for the attachment of the piece of jewelry, substantially as described.

2. A display card for jewelry, formed of loosely folded layers of paper, so as to present the folded edges g, h, and d the several layers being perforated for the attachment of the piece of jewelry, and the exterior provided with printed matter, substantially as described.

3. A display card for jewelry, formed of loosely folded layers of tissue paper, the several layers being perforated for the attachment of the piece of jewelry, substantially as described.
