W. MORTON. DUPLIGATING MBMORANDUM BOOK 0R SALE SLIP. No. 487,680.
Patented Dec, 6, 1892. H
WZZIWSGE T "cams PETERS com PNOYOUTHQHWASNINGTON n c UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
WILSON MORTON, OF TORONTO, CANADA, ASSIGNOR TO WILLIAM RICHARD CAVELL, OF SAME PLACE.
DUPLICATING MEMORANDUM-BOOK OR SALE-SLIP.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 487,680, dated December 6, 1892. Application filed June 18, 1892. Serial No. 437,226. (No specimens.) Patented in Canada February 25. 1892, No- 38,361.
To all whom it may concern:
Beit known that I,WILSON MORTON, printer, of the city of Toronto, in the county of York and Province of Ontario, Canada, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in the Manufacture of Duplicate Memorandum- Books or Sale-Slips, (upon which Letters Patent of the Dominion of Canada were granted on the 25th day of February, 1892, and numn bored 38,351,) and I hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same.
This invention relates to a new article of manufacture by means of which the use of that part of the book known as the transfersheet or carbon-leaf is entirely dispensed with; and the invention consists, essentially, in providing the back of the original or sale slip with a transferring composition, which composition makes a fac-simile copy of the recorded matter on the duplicate beneath it, the whole device being constructed and arranged as hereinafter more fully set forth in the specification and more particularly pointed out in the claims.
In the drawing the figure is a perspective vliew of a duplicate memorandum-book orsales 1p.
Like numerals of reference refer to like 0 parts throughout the specification and drawing.
In the drawing, 1 refers to the sale-slip; 2, to the duplicate; 3, to the cover, and 4 to the rest. The back of the sale-slip 1 is provided 5 with a suitable transferring composition, by means of which the characters recorded on the sale-slip simultaneously record on the duplicate. By providing the back of the sale-slip with a transferring composition the use of the transfer-sheet or carbon-leaf is entirely disbook. This arrangement permits the user to write on the sale-slip, which writing is simultaneously recorded on its duplicate, and at the same time the rest4 prevents any of the written characters being recorded on any of the other portions of the book.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
l. A duplicating memorandum-book orsaleslip consisting of a series of sale-slips and their duplicates, the back of each sale-sli p being provided with a transferring composition, by means of which the characters recorded on the sale-slip are recorded on its duplicate, substantially as described.
2. A duplicating memorandum-book orsaleslip consisting of a series of sale-slips and their duplicates, the back of each sale-slip provided with a transferring composition, by means of which the characters recorded on the sale-slip are simultaneously recorded on its duplicate, and a rest adapted to be interposed between the duplicate of the sale-slip in use and the remainder of the book, substantially as described.
Toronto, December 8, 1891.
WILSON MORTON.
In presence of CHAS. H. RIOHES, M. E. ANGELL.
