UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
SAMUEL W. BAR-R, OF MANSFIELD, OHIO.
CASH AND PACKAGE CARRIER APPARATUS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 482,822, dated September 20,1892.
Application filed March 14, 1892- Serial No. 424,935. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, SAMUEL WV. BARR, a citizen of Mansfield, in the county of Richland and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Cash and Package Carrier Apparatus; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
My invention relates to an improvement in cash and package carrier apparatus, and more particularly to curves to be used in connection therewith and particularly with that class of apparatus shown in my former patent, No. 432,852, dated July 22, 1890, the object of the present invention being to produce a simple and efficient curve for the purpose stated and one by means of which two track-wires will be supported.
With this objectin view the invention consists in certain novel features of construction and combinations and arrangements of parts, as hereinafter set forth, and pointed out in the claims.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a plan view. Fig. 2 is a side elevation partly in section. Fig. 3 is a section on the line 00 a". of Fig. 1.
A represents a support, preferably tubular, which is secured to the ceiling or overhead floor and has secured to its lower end a casting a. Secured to the casting a is a plate 1), preferably formed of strap-iron one-eighth by one inch and having a curved inner edge. An S-hook is connected with the casting a, and to said S-hook an eye-screw c is connected, the other end of said eye-screw being passed through one end of a turnbuckle d. Another eye-screw e is passed through the other end of the turnbuckle d and has passed through its eye a wire f, the ends of which are secured to a suitable support, such as the wall or ceiling of the room in which the deviceis placed. Two plates, having curved inner edges constituting tracks B, are secured to the plate I) by means of bolts g.
In making the tracks B they are first cut into the proper curved form and then their outer edges are bent in reverse directions around wires a size larger than the trackwires to be used, after which said wires are removed,'the two plates soldered together at their outer edges 72, and the track-wires i 2' passed through the hollow beads thus formed. Lugs or brackets O are secured to and project downwardly fromthe plate 19 and support at their lower ends a rod or small bar 0 at a suitable distance below the plate. This rod or bar serves to guide the lower portion of the carrier around the curve and prevents swinging or vibrating of the carrier after it passes the curve.
By means of the devices above described two track-wires can be properly and efiectively supported at a curve in the line of said track-wires. The device is very simple and is effectual in the performance of its functions.
Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. In a cash and package carrier apparatus, the combination, with a suitable support, of a pair of curved beads connected therewith, said beads running approximately parallel with each other, and track-wires leading to the beads, whereby the beads serve as tracks for the carrier to run upon, substantially as set forth.
2. In acash and package carrier apparatus,
the combination, with a pair of track-wires capable of being spread apart, of a support comprising a main plate and a pair of trackplates having curved outer edges along which the track-wires are supported, said trackplates secured to the main plate and forming a part of the track, substantially as set forth.
3. The combination, with a pair of trackwires capable of being spread apart, of a curved support along which both track-wires are supported in proximity to each other and in the same or approximately the same vertical plane, substantially as set forth.
4;. The combination, with a .main plate, of a pair of track-plates having curved outer edges secured to the main plate and secured together; said track-plates having hollow In testimony whereof I have signed this beads formed at their outer edges, trackspeeification in the presence of two subscribwires passed through these beads, and a deing witnesses.
pending guard below the main plate and in SAMUEL W. BARR. 5 a plane substantially parallel with the outer Witnesses:
edges of the track-plates, substantially as set W. P. STURGES,
forth. F. W. PIERSON.
