SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 481,825, dated August 30, 1892.

Application filed March 23, 1892. Serial No. 426,055. (No model.)

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, LEwIs W. RoTHRocK, of Morrisdale Mines, in the county of Clear field and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and Improved Neck-Yoke Attachment, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.

The object of the invention is to provide a simple and improved harness attachment mainly designed for securing the breast-straps to the neck-yoke, but capable of other uses in harness.

The invention consists in the novel construction hereinafter particularly described and claimed.

Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, in which similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the figures.

Figure 1 is a perspective view of a portion of a neck-yoke provided with my improved attachment. Fig. 2 is a side view of the attachment removed, parts being in section; and Fig. 3 is a section on line 3 3, Fig. 2.

The improved attachment consists of a ring A, having parallel integral arms a a projecting therefrom at one side, which support a roller B, the latter being thus spaced from the said ring. The roller is removably secured to the arms a by a bolt 12, and on thelatter, Within the roller B, is a loose sleeve B of a length slightly greater than that of roller B, whereby in tightening up the bolt the armsa will contact with the ends of said sleeve, and thereby arrest the inward movement of said arms and prevent them from binding against the ends of roller B.

The device is attached to the neck-yoke D at each end by a staple or keeper d 011 the end ferrule D of the yoke.

The breast-straps (not shown) are passed around the roller B, between the same and the periphery of the ring A, and then snapped to the harness in the usual manner.

The device is very light and strong, saves the breast-straps from wear, and its connection with the neck-yoke permits the horses to readily spread apart, when necessary, without liability of the device becoming caught. Further, it permits a shorter hitch than the ordinary roller-snap and is much stronger than the latter. In adjusting the breast-straps the device presents no projections or impediments, which is a great convenience.-

The device is also applicable to harness and may be readily strapped thereto for permitting the inside lines to pass through the same. Then thus used, it affords a more desirable guide for the reins than the ordinary rings, as it effectively prevents them from twisting and prevents the buckle on the lines from slipping through the device When horses are left standing.

Having thus described my invention,what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

As an improved article of manufacture, a harness attachment consisting of the continuous ring A, provided with the tangential parallel arms a a, projecting in the same direction from opposite sides of the ring, and the roller B, removably mounted between the extreme outer ends of the said arms, whereby the portion of the ring between the arms serves to strengthen the device and to prevent a strap passed between the roller and said partition from contacting with the neckyoke or other connected part, as set forth.
