IMPROVED'TACK-DRIVER.

Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 47,935, dated May 30, v1865.

To all, whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, BIRAII C. DAvIs, of Herkimer, in the county of Herkimer and State of N ew York, haveinvented a new and useful Machine for Driving Tacks; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the sanne, reference being had to the annexed drawings, making a part of this specification, in which- Figure l is a perspective View, and Figs. 2 and 3 the interior.

With a small shovel I sprinkle the tacks lightly on the descending incline plate A, securing their upright and uniform position in the descending guide B, as shown in Fig. l. A stroke with a mallet on the driver C carries down one tack, the dies H II direct the point to the center, and springs back for the head to pass out. The slide D presses out the'bent arm E, and drawing back the dividing-slide F, allowing the tacks to slip down next to the driver C, bringing the tacks in a perpendicu- -lar position, as shown in Fig. 2. The driver O is brought back by the spring G, the dividing-slide F forces one tack under the driver C, and closing the guide B, as shown in Fig. 3.
