IMPROVEMENT IN FaloTloN-MATCHES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 47,848,datcd May 23, 1865.
To all whom 'it may concern:
Boston, county of Suffolk, State of Massachib SettS, have invented a new, usei'ul,'and lmproved Match and I do hereby declare that the following specification and accompanying drawings are sufficientto enable any person skilled in the art or science to which it most nearly appertains tolna'ke and use my Said invention or im provem ents, without further inl vention or experiment;
The nature oirmy invention-und improvements in matches consists in putting thelighting or burning substance on one end or side lof' the splint or match and the lgniting substance on the other end or side of the splint or match, So that the splint or match may bc broken in two, andthe lighting or burning end rubbed or scratched 011 the igniting end, to lire the match or light it, thereby making an improved match, which may be lighted on' of the opposite end; atA D.
