Description

O. DALER.
REGEPTAGLE FOR MUGILAGE, m.
(No Model.)
No. 476,254. Patented June 7, 189 2.
Irweniior:
4 flhw 1mm UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
CHRISTIAN DALER, OF NUREMBERG, GERMANY.
RECEPTACLE FOR MUCILAG E, 800.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 476,254, dated June 7, 1892!. Application filed December 30, 1891. Serial No. 416,614. (No model.)
To aZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CHRISTIAN DALER, a resident of Nuremberg, Bavaria, Germany, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Receptacles for Mucilage and the Like, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, which form part of the same.
My invention relates to improvements in mucilage and similar receptacles; and it consists, essentially, in the novel arrangement and combination of parts hereinafter described and claimed. As is Well known to users of mueilage and similar sticky compounds, the upper part of the receptacle becomes clogged by the frequent withdrawal of the brush and by the deposits of the surplus of mucilage which is removed from the brush. The partially-dried mucilage causes the handle of the brush to become sticky and soiled and also to stick to the receptacle.
The object of the present improvement is to do away with these disadvantages.
My invention is illustrated in the drawings, in Which Figure 1 is a cross-section of the improved receptacle; Fig. 2, a plan view of the neck of said receptacle and of its cover or lid. Fig. 3 is a front view of the receptacle.
The improved receptacle consists of a body portion G, having its bottom conical or sloping to a hollow F at the center to enable a more thorough cleansing of the receptacle. The upper part of the receptacle terminates in a neck I-l, having screw-thread on its periphery. A cap K is screwed to the neck. The cap K is by preference metal and has a sloping roof or top l3,in which is cut a perforation of a shape more clearly shown at Fig. 2 and consisting, essentially, of acircular hole a, through which the stem or handleP of the brush passes, and of a semicircular and wedge shaped opening I), which allows the brush to be Withdrawn and the surplus mucilage to be scraped off in the wedge-shaped opening. To enable the brush to be more readily freed from the mucilage, the wed ge-shaped opening I) is furnished with downwardly-projecting wings, forming a gutter R. The handle P of the brush may also be furnished with a collar P, which rests upon the circular perforation a in the roof B of the cap and serves to hold and retain the brush in an upright position in the receptacle and to prevent said brush from slipping down into the mucilage when the brush is not in use.
When not in use a separate cover I), which is hinged to the slanting roof of the cap, is closed down upon the roof, covering the perforation and preventing the corroding or souring of the mucilage.
In operation the cover D is thrown back, the brush is removed from the circular perforation a, dipped into the mucilage, and withdrawn through the Wedge-shaped perforation b. Thesurplus mucilage is scraped oif into the gutter R of the wedge-shaped perforation b and is led away from the brush to the bottom of the receptacle.
Having fully described myinvention, What I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is-
The combination, in a mucilage or similar receptacle, of the body portion G, having slanting bottom and hollow F, with neck H and cap K, secured thereto, said cap K having slanting perforated roof B, the perforations a b in said cap being substantially wedgeshaped, and with cover D, substantially as and for the purposes described.
