To all whom it may concern.-

Be it known that I, SHERWOOD B. FERRIS, a resident of Lakewood, Ocean county, New Jersey, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in GarmentSupporters, as the subsequent specification will more fully set forth.

Figure 1 represents my improved garmentsupporter in use. Figs. 2, 3, and 4 represent several forms of the same.

This invention relates to garment-supporters; and it consists of a wire holder having its parts brought into the characteristic forms hereinafter described.

My supporter is formed of wires, as follows: A piece of wireis doubled or bent at a point a, so as to form a loop A, having substantially parallel limbs h and 7 Near the lower end of the limb h the limb 2' is again bent double at I), thus forming a third limb j. The limb j is continued upward substantially parallel to and at a slight distance from the limb 1', and then flared outward at c, which forms an open loop B with a flaring mouth. The flaring portion may be turned into a finishingloop O and the free end dbrought down nearly to the bend b, as shown in Figs. 1, 2, and 4, or the finishing-turn may be simply a ring 0, such as shown in Fig. 3. To strengthen the whole structure, and especially the bends a and 1), upon which the greatest strain would otherwise fall, I connect the limbs h, i, and j, near the bend b, in some suitable manner. This ,might be done by a drop of solder or by a separate band; but I prefer to coil the free end of the limb h tightly about the limbs 41 andj, thus forming the tie g, the end d being also included in the tie when it is brought down to the bend Z).

lVhen it is desired to use the supporter, an elastic or other band Bis inserted into the narrow closed clasping-loop A and pulled up until its upper edge comes into contact with the upper end of the loop. The crowding of the fabric between the sides of the loop will cause the latter to clamp and hold it tightly.
