Specification forming part of Letters Patent NQ. 47,383, dated April 25,1865.
this specification', in which the machine is repl resented in elevation with the churn in sec tion, so as to show the dashers.
The object is to obtain a vertical reci procating motion to the churn flashers by means of the revolution of a hand-crank and without the intervention of gearing. i
A is the bed of the machine, on which are supported three standards, B B C. The bed likewise supports the churn D. The shaftE of the hand-crank F and ily-Wheel C' is jonrnaled in the upright C, the Wheel rotating'in a slotin the standard. To the inner end of the crank-shaft is a wrist, H, which .connects by a pitman, I, With;a block, J, on a band, K, which passes over pulleys L M N 0 P Q R, and is again attached to the block J. This belt has areciprocatory motion as the block J is alternately raised and depressed byV the revolution of the wrist H, and this motion is communicated to the slides S T, which alternately rise and fall as they move in the guide-cleats ci S. To the slides S T are attached rods UV, and these to the dashers `W X, which move alternately and vertically in the churn.
The motion is very easy, comparatively noiseless, and has proved eminently satisfactory from the smoothness of its motion and its efficiency.
Having thus described my invention, what I1 claim thereiuas new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is`
The combination ot' the belt and rollers, substantially as described, with the slides S and T, attached to the dasherfshafts, and the block or attachment J,`deriving its-motions from vthe hand-crank and its connections, as described and represented.
To the above specication of my improvementin chnrnpowers Ihave signed my hand this 21st day of February, 1865.
