Be it known that we, JOHN N. KAILOR and ELMER L. WILLIAMS, citizens of the United States, residing at Columbus, in the county of Bartholomew and State of Indiana, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Gasings for Olover-Hullers, of which the following is a specification.

Our invention relates to an improvedcas'-' ing for*clover-hulling machines, more particularly that class of clover-hulling machines in which two operating-cylinders are used, one above the other.

The object of our improvement is to provide convenient means for obtaining'access to and" for removing the lower cylinder without disturbing the upper cylinder.

The accompanying drawings illustrate our invention. Figure 1 represents a view in perspective I of the frame of a clover-huller casing having our improvement. Fig. 2 represents a view in perspective of the front portion of a cloverhuller having the casing opened for access to the lower cylinder.

In the drawings, A, B, G, and Dare the corner-posts of the main frame, in which the cylinders are mounted. Said posts are. connected in pairs by short beams E and F, which form bearings for the upper and lower cylinders, respectively, and are further connected at their lower ends by metallic plates G G, having arms I I, to which the bolster J is secured. The posts A and O and B and D are connected by suitable cross-beams L, M, N, and 0, so as to form a rectangular main frame, to the rear side of which a. secondary frame P is attached to receive the separating sieves and rakes.

The construction of the frame asthus far described forms the subject-matter of another application, now pending, by John N. Kailor, one of the parties hereto, and therefore need not here be more particularly described.

It will be understood that the lower hullin g-cylinder B, Fig. 2, is mounted in bearings on the beams F within the frame formed by the-posts A, B, G, and D, and is therefore,

when the casing is completed and ready for operation, completely inclosed. For the purpose of gaining convenient access to the lower The removable. portions of the postsA and --C are connected by a board V and provided with end pieces W W and a top covering X, so as to form a connected structure adapted to co-operate with the rest of the frame and casing and form a removable part thereof to inclose the upper front portion of the lower cylinder. This removable portion of the casing may be secured in position by hooks '2 2, attached to the main frame and engaging eyes secured to the removable section, as at 3, or in any other suitable manner. For the purpose of conveniently handling said removable portion of the casing a pair of arms 4 4 are rigidly secured at one end to opposite ends of the removable section, and the other ends of said arms are pivoted to the ends of the bolster J, so that the removable section may beconveniently swung out of position in the main casing, as illustrated in Fig. 2, thus forming a gap in the main frame and easing, through which access may be had to the lower cylinder R and through which said cylinder may be removed without disturbing the upper cylinder 5.

We claim as our invention- 1. In a cldver-huller casing having bear-- ings formed therein for two thrashing or hulling cylinders arranged one below the other, the combination of the main casing having in its front side, above the lower cylinderbearings, an opening through which said cylinder may be inserted in or removed from its bearings, and the removable section adapted to fill said opening and to co-operate with the main casing to inclose said cylinder, subs tan tially in the manner set forth. 2. In a clover-holler casing, the combination of the posts forming the corners of the pivotally connected to the bolster, all submain frame, tire beams E imd F, and plates stantially as set forth.
