SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 472,970, dated April 19, 1892.

To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, CHARLES A. ANDERSON, a citizen of the United States, residing at- Rockford, county of \Vinnebago, and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvementsin Cultivator-Shovels, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to that class of shovels formed in two parts secured to a frog or standard; and my improvement lies in the means of securing the upper portion to the standard adjustably in reference to the lower portion.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is an isometrical representation of my shovel. Fig. 2 is an isometrical representation of the frog or standard, the point and mold-board being removed. Fig. 3 is a lenthwise vertical central section of the shovel.
In the construction of this shovel I employ the forwardly-curvin g standard 1, in the lower end of which is formed the hole 2. About midway of the length of the standard 1 I provide the longitudinally-slotted hole 3. At the upper end of the standard, on the face side thereof, I provide the lug 4, extending from thestandard. The lower portion of the shovel (itspoint 5) is of substantially triangular outline, sharpened at its lower edges, and bent in the form usual in such shovels. A hole extending through the point receives the bolt 6, by which it is secured to the standard.
The mold-board 7 is provided with a hole, through which I place the bolt 8, and this bolt extends through the slotted hole3 in the standard and receivesa nut to hold the moldboard in place. In the upper edge of the mold-board I form a notch 9 of such form and size as to accommodate the lug 4c, the slot 3 allowing an adjustment of the mold-board in reference to the point 5.
In fitting the parts of my shovel together I attach the point 5 to the standard 1, and, holding the mold-board 7 in position, fit its lower edge to the upper edge of the point, and behole near its middle, and a projecting lug on its upper end, a point secured to the lower end of the standard, a mold-board, a hole near its center and a notch in one of its edges, and a bolt extending through the hole of the board and through the slotted hole of the standard,
