IMPROVEMENT IN VESSELS FOR BOILING.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 17,025, dated March 28, 1865.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, WERNER KROEGER, of the city and county of Milwaukee, in the State of WVisconsin, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Culinary and other Vessels; and I do hereby declare the following to be full and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, which represents a vertical central section of a boiler illustrating my invention.
This invention consists in applying a casing or band of copper to the lower portion of tin vessels used for boiling, cooking, and heating purposes generally.
To a vessel, A, of any form, I apply a copper casing or band, B, which, at its upper rim, is united to the sides of the vessel A. At the bottom the band B is joined to the copper bottom of the vessel A, in any suitable manner.
The band B may be of any vertical width relatively to the height of the vessel A, and it is intended to be applied to any tin vessel, boiler, pot, or kettle, with copper bottom, used in heating or boiling fluids on stoves.
This improvement will render tin vessels as durable as if they were made entirely of copper, while it reduces the expense, in comparison with the price of similar and like vessels made wholly of copper, to but a fraction over and above the price of tin vessels with copper bottoms.
The durable character of vessels embodying this improvement is attributable to the fact that they are not liable to rust and be affected by the heat of the fire as soon as tin vessels which latter generally get leaky where the bottom unites with the sides, and these touch or come near the heated surface of the stove.
It is obvious that the sides of the vessel are made much stronger by the application of the band.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The copper band B, applied in the manner described, to tin vessels used for heating or boiling, for the purpose explained.
WERNER KROEGER.
