Description
UNTTED STATES `PATENT OFFICE.. .Q
FRANK P. PFLEGHAR AND WM. SHLLHORN, OF NEW HAVEN,` CONN.
TIP FOR OIL-CUPS.
Specification forming part oi" Letters Patent Nollyig, dated February 2, 18:35.
To all wwm/ fina/y concern.-
Be it known that we, FRANK P. PELEGHAR and WM. Sci-rLLHoRN, of New Haven, in the county of New Haven and State of Connecticut, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Tips for Oil-Oups; and we do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same when taken in connection' with the'accompanying drawings and the letters of reference marked thereon, and which said drawings constituteA part of this speeication, and represent, in-
Figure l, a side view; Fig. 2, a vertical central section; Fig. 3, the tip and neck detached.
Heretofore the tip or tubes of oil-cans or Oilers. have been made of thin metal, which was easily jammed and of little use, or they have been made from tubing drawn down to the proper proportions, and the milled thu mbring soldered or brazed onto the tip. This was a laborious and expensive operation. Our invention is designed to overcome these obj ections and produce an oiler-tip durable and cheap; and it consists in forming the tipxwith the thumb-ring cast on from malleable iron 0r other suit-able cast metal.
, To enable others skilled in the art to make and use our invention, wewill proceed to fully describe the same, as illustrated in the aco'ompanying drawings.
We iirst prepare the required patterns to form a tip of the exterior form, A, as shown in Fig. 3, and cast in the usual manner, coring out the interior about, as seen in Fig. 3,
also seen in Fig. 2. Then turn and iinish the outside, mill the thumb-ring a., out a thread on the lower end of the tip to fit the neck D. The said neck is attached to the oiler-eup by soldering. Thus -I form a complete, strong, and perfect tip at comparatively small oost.
The milled thumb-ring is a necessity, as by it the tip is removed to replenish the cup. The forming of these rings and attaching to the tip has been a large item in the cost of manufacture.
Having fully described our invention, what we claim as new and useful, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
AS a new article of manufacture, the herein-described cast-metal tip for oil-oups.
FRANK PFLEGHAR. \VM. SHOLLHORN. Witnesses:
