SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 464,358, dated December 1, 1891.
Application led December 17, 1890. Serial No. 374,961. (No model.)
To all whom, t may con/cern:
Be it known that I, HENRY L. GREEN, of Jersey City, in the county of Hudson and State of New Jersey, haveinvented a new and Improved Lamp-Burner,of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the annexed drawings, forming a part thereof, in Which- Figure 1 is a perspective view of my improved lamp-burner, and Fig. 2 is an inverted plan view of the same.
Similar letters of reference indicate .corresponding` parts in both views.
The object of my invention is to constructa lamp-burner provided with a wick-turning spindle projecting from each side of the burner to facilitate the regulation of the wick.
My invention consists in the combination, with the usual wick-regulating spindle, of a spur-wheel attached to the inner end of the spindle, and an auxiliary spindle journaled in the burner and furnished with a sp ltr-wheel placed in engagement with the spur-wheel on the regular spindle, so that both spindles will rotate in opposite directions when either one of them is turned.
The burner A, which may be of any approved construction, is furnished with a Wickregulating spindle B of the usual description, provided at its outer end with amilled wheel O and furnished with star-Wheels D, which project into the wick-tube E and engage the wick in the usual Way. To the inner end of the spindle B is secured a spur-wheel F.
In the base of the burner and parallel with the spindle B is journaled an auxiliary spindle B', the outer end being supported by an ear G, projecting from the burner, the inner end being inserted in a hole formed in the central part of the burner. On the auxiliary spindle B is mounted a spur-Wheel F, which 'engages the spur-wheel F on the spindle B.
