Description

(No. Model.)
P. GRABL-ER; TEETHING BIT FOR CHILDREN.
No. 462,763. Patented Nov. 10, 1891..
UNITE STATES PATENT OFFI E.-
PETER GRABLER, OF PITTSBURG, PENNSYLVANIA.
TEET'HING-BlT FOR CHILDREN.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 462,763, dated Numb... 1o, 1891 Application filed anuary 20, 1891- Serial No. 378,473- (No model.)
To all whom it may concern; I
Be' it known that I, PETER GRABLER, a citi zen of the United States, residing at Pittsburg, in the county of Allegheny and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements-in 'leething-Bits for Children; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in I 4 face, and the saidex-posed face to be so corruthe art to which it pertains to make and use the same, reference being had'to the accompanying drawings, which form a part of this specification. I
M y invention relates to an improved teeth: ing-bit for children; and it consists in a soft rubber body having a corrugated metallic plate attached thereto, as will be more fully set forth hereinaften;
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a face View of my improved teething-bit, which is constructed in accordance with my invention. Fig. 2 is an edge view of the same, partly shown in section. Fig. 3 is a sectional Fig. 4- is a sectional end elevation of a modification in which the metallic surface is composed of wire partly bedded in the soft rubber.
To construct a teething-bit in accordance with my invention I form from soft rubber or other like substance a bit a, provided with an annular flange b and a handle 0, the said handle c ha'vingau opening formed-therein, which affords a means of securingthe article about the person of the child. Secured on one side of the bit a is a corrugated silver or metal plate (1, the edges of which are embedded in the rubber. 'It is attached in position bymeans of integral portions e, forced into the bit and then bent at an angle. This plate I prefer to be slightly concave on its exposed gated or roughened as to present an uneven surface on which the child-may cut its teeth.
It is obvious that this plated may be formed in a-number of different ways. Therefore I do not confine myself to the construction shown, as many modifications may be made without departing, from the spiritof my inventiou; but
What I claim, and dcsi re to secure by l.et-' ters Patent, is-
. A teething device for children, madeof soft rubber, andv a metallic plate having the-depending hooks which take into the soft-rubber base, substantially as described.
In testimony that 'I claim the foregoing I hereunto affix my signature this 12th day of August, A. D. 1890..
, PETER GRABLER. [L. 8.]
