Description

UNITED. STATES PATENT OFFICE.
RICHARD MANTEY, OF .IAMESTOVBL NORTH DAKOTA.
DRENoHlNc-BOTTLE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 462,056, dated October 27, 1891.
Application tiled March 23, 1891. Serial No. 386,051. '(Nc model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known Ithat I, RICHARD MANTEY, of Jamestown, Stutsman county, North Dakota, have invented certain Improvements in Drenching-Bottles, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvementsin vessels for holding and administering liquid medicines to horses and other animals; and it consists in arranging a graduated glass bottle with a suitable case having a removable tube or neck with which the neck of the bottle is connected, the bottle being removablysecured in the case.
-My invention further consists in the construction and combination hereinafter described, and particularly pointed out in the claims. l
In the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, Figure 1 is an elevation ot' my improved drenching-bottle,
showing the appearance of the device when ready for use; and Fig. 2 is a central longitudinal section of the same, showing the manner in which the various parts are connected together. i
In the drawings, 2 represents a cylindrica sheet-metal case provided with a handle 4 and having a removable screw-threaded loottom (i. The top or neck 8 of the case is narrowed and screw-threaded to receive the removable spout 7. In order to make the connection between the spout and neck watertight, I prefer to arrange upon the neck a rubber ring or washer 10, upon which the edge of the spout bears when screwed upon the neck. Hthin the neck of the case I arrange a partition or ring 12, preferably funnel-shaped and provided with a screw-threaded downwardly-projecting collar 13, forming the inner end of the spout and outlet of the case. Adapted to be placed Within the case is the glass bottle or receptacle 14, having a screw-threaded neck 16 adapted to be screwed into the-collar 13, a rubber 'washer being interposed between their meeting surfaces to form a tight joint. The bottle is securely held in place in the case by means of the removable bottom G. The bottle is also preferably provided with 4a graduated scale 18 to show the amount of its contents, and a slot 2O is arranged in the side wall ot the case through which the scale can be read.
I claim* 1. In a device ot the class described, the combination of a suitable glass receptacle or bottle, a case surrounding and inclosing said bottle, a neck or spout for said case, to the inner end of which the neck of said receptacle is iitted, and means forremovably securing said receptacle in said case, substantially as and for the purposes set i'orth.
2. The combination, witha glass bottle having a screw-threaded neck, of an open-bot tomed case adapted to receive and hold said bottle, a spout upon said case, to the inner end of which the neck of said bottle is adapted to be screwed, and a removable cap or bottom for said case, substantially as and for the purposes set forth.
3. The combination of a case having a narrowed top or neck, a spout adapted to be removably secured to said neck, a partition within said neck having a screw-threaded opening therethrough communicating with said. spout, and a glass receptacle adapted to be secured in said case and having a screwthreaded neck to be litted in the opening ot said neck, substantially as and for the purposes set forth.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand this 19th day of March, 1891.
RICHARD MANTEY.
In presence of- FREDINS BALDWIN, WM. Rinoon'rrn.
