To all whom, t may concern:

Be it known that I, WILLIAM ll. BROAD- HEAD, a citizen of Canada, residing at Cleve-` land, in the county ot Cuyahoga and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Door-Stops; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, which will enable others skilled in the art to which it IO appertains to make and use the same.

My invention relates to door-stops, and belongs to that class of stops which are designed to be attached to the bottom of the door and to press upon the door when in working po- I5 sition, so as to hold the door open, or partially open, as may be required.

To this end the invention consists in a bracket adapted to be attached to the door, a sliding` bolt, and an eccentric, with a lever 2O to operate the bolt, all constructed substantially as shown and described, and particularly pointed out in the claims.

A represents a section of a door, and l5 a bracket secured to the door to one side or the other, as may be found most convenient,

and in such relation to the floor that the stop will be in good working position. This bracket has a pair of ears, through which it is screwed firmly to the door, and projecting some distance from its face is a head C, provided with parallel sides and arranged to stand vertically, so as to form a suitable support and. guide for the bolt D. The head C is formed preferably with its sides converging slightly toward the front face, on which is the pivot-pin or spindle c, adapted to serve as a support for the eccentric. At the base of the spindle c is a collare', having about Serial No. 352,999. (No model.)

The bolt D has rearwardly-flaring flanges or sides d, adapted to the construction of the head C, and designed to ride and slide freely thereon, the said head forming a guide, as well as a support, for the bolt, and the side anges of the bolt serving to keep the boltin proper working relation upon the head. On the face of the bolt, over its top, is a vertical slot d', the edges of which are adapted to lit at the side of the collar c', and immediately below this slide, midway of the length oit the bolt, on the face thereof, is a lug or projection d2 at one side of the longitudinal center ot' the bolt, and below said lug is an over-` hanging lip or projection cl3, which serves to engage the outer edge of the eccentric, substantially as shown in Fig. l, to assist in keeping said eccentric in working position in connection with the lug d?.

E represents the eccentric, which has a hole e at one side of its center adapted to fit upon the spindle c, on which it is secured by slightly riveting or flattening the end of the said spindle to form a sufficient head to keep the eccentric in working position. On the inside of the part E is a groove c', along the inner edge of which are a series of scallops e2, and a handle e3 serves to operate the said part.

It will be seen that the entire device as thus constructed consists ot three parts-the bracket B, the bolt D, and the eccentric E. In putting the parts together the bolt B is first placed in position upon the head C,Witl1 the spindle projecting through the slot in the bolt. The eccentric is then placed on the spindle with the lug d2entering the eccentric groove and the lip cl3 overhanging the outer edge of the eccentric. rl'henwhen the end of the spindle is slightly upset, so as to keep the eccentric in position, and the parts thus united are attached to the door in proper working` relation with respect to the tloor the door can be stopped at any desired point by simply turning the eccentric far enough to project the foot d4 down upon the floor. Having` thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

l. The bracket having a head with parallel sides and a spindle projecting centrally from the face of the head, a bolt having a longitudinal slot with sides adapted to the sides of said head and a lug on its l'ace at one side of its center and near the inner end of said slot, and an eccentric having a groove engaging,` the lug on the bolt, substantially as described.

2. rlhe bracket provided with a head and spindle, and a slotted bolt supported on the said head and-having` a lug on its face, in combination with a scalloped eccentric engaging said lug, substantially as described.

In a door-stop, the bracket having a head With parallel converging;` sides, and a slotted bolt having' its sides flared to match the said head and provided with a lug (Z2 at one side ot its center, in combination with the eccentric having a scalloped edge e2 to engage said lug (Z`-, and a handle, substantially as described. l
