DAVID BLOCK, OF NEWV YORK, N. Y.
SHEET METAL. CABINET.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 445,388, dated January 27, 1891.
Application filed August 20,1890. Serial No. 362,517. (No modelll To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, DAVID BLOCK, of the city, county, and State of New York, a citi zen of the United States, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Sheet- Metal Cabinets, of which the following is a specification.
Thisinvention relates to an improved sheetmetal cabinet for kitchen use, which is constructed in such a manner that the parts can be stamped up by dies, and by which considerable economy and saving in sheet metal is obtained; and the invention consists of a sheet-metal cabinet for kitchen and other use, the main part or body of which is formed of two pieces-a rear part, which is made integral with the top and base, and a front part, which is made integral with the guides for the boxes or drawers, which latter are also made of sheet metal and finished in japan or otherwise.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 represents a front elevation of my improved sheet metal cabinet. Fig. 2 is a vertical transverse section of the same on the line 2 2, Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a face view of the blank from which the rear part of the cabinet is formed, and Fig. a is a face view of the blank for the front part of the cabinet.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
Referring to the drawings, A represents the rear part, and B the front wall, of my improved sheet-metal cabinet for kitchen and other use. The rear part of the cabinet is made of a blank A, as shown in Fig. 3, which blank is so constructed that the rear and side walls a o are made integral with the bottom a and its inclined base a and with the top part a and its head-piece a and it also has two pieces a at. each side thereof, which form a pointed or inclined top A. The blank A is bentin in such a manner that the bottom side walls and top part are formed by the parts bent up, as shown in Figs. 1 and 2. The

front wall Bis soldered onto the rear part and made of one blank, which is provided with the guide-piecesb I), made integral therewith and bent up at right angles to the front wall in inward direction, so as to guide the drawers or boxes 0 O, which are likewise made of sheet metal and have front walls C made longer than the guide-openings in the front of the cabinet, said drawer fronts hav- The front wall is provided around the box-openings with raised beads D that improve the appearance of the front wall.
The sheet-metal cabinet is finished by japanning and otherwise, and is intended to be used as a spice-box for kitchen use. It can also be made on a larger scale to be used as a toy cabinet for children, or on a still larger scale to be used for filing papers and for storage purposes generally.
Having thus described my. invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- 1. A sheet-metal cabinet formed of a rear part, in which the rear and side walls of the bodyare made integral with the base and top part, and of a front wall having inwardlybent guide-pieces for the drawers or boxes, w hich guides are made integral with the front walls, substantially as set forth.
2. The combination of the main part or body of a sheet-metal cabinet, formed of a rear part and a front wall having inwardlybent guides made integral with the front part and drawers or slides, the front walls of which drawers are made larger than the guideopenings of the front plate, substantially as set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my invention I have signed my name in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
DAVID BLOCK.
