SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 441,693, dated December 2, 1890. Application filed January 22, 1889. Serial No. 29'7, l29. (ModeL) To all whom it may concern.-

Be itknown that I, CHARLES E. MCELROY, of Brockton, in the county of Plymouth and State of Massachusetts, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Glove- Bands, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to means for holding together as a package or bundle a number of gloves for convenience in handling; and it consists in the arrangement substantially as hereinafter fully set forth, and particularly pointed out in the claims.

In the drawings hereto annexed and forming a part of this specification, Figure 1 is a perspective view of myimproved glove-band. Fig. 2 is a sectional detail showing one way or manner of providing a socket or receptacle for the stud. Fig. 3 is a sectional detail showing another way of providing a receptacle for the stud. Fig. 4: is a transverse section of the stud and associated parts shown in Fig. 3.

The same letters designate the same parts in all of the views.

In the drawings, a designates a band of paper, cloth, zylonite, or other suitable material, to one end of which is attached a split stud b, the attaching-spurs of which are preferably covered by a plate 0, having rounded edges, so that there maybe no liability of the device catching into and tearing or marring the gloves. To the other end of the band I secure a series of split buttons or sockets cl for the reception of the stud b, which may be sprung or snapped into the socket, as will be readily understood by an inspection of Fig. 2 of the drawings. Instead of providing split buttons or sockets cl for the reception of the studs b, I may simply provide the band with a row of eyelets 6, through which the stud may be passed, the latter being split, as more clearly shown at f, Fig, 3, so that it may be snapped or sprung through the eyelet, and so provide a secure fastening. The series of eyelets or receptacles for the studs I) afford means whereby the band can be adjusted to hold bundles or packages of gloves of varying number.

It is obvious that the brand or kind, size, and quality of the gloves may be printed or stamped upon the band, and that it might be rendered serviceable if it were provided with a single eyelet or stud-receptacle. It is also obvious that the band may be employed for binding or holding together other articles or things than gloves.

Having thus described my invention, I declare that what I claim is 1. A glove-band provided on one end with a split stud b and on the other end with a series of eyelets having split sockets or receptacles into or through which the stud is adapted to pass, as set forth.

2. As an improved article of manufacture, a glove-band having at one end a series of eyelets or sockets and at the other end a stud having spurs, and a plate covering said spurs, as and for the purpose set forth.
