SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 437,807, dated October '7, 1890.
Application filed December 16,1889. Serial No. 333,997. (No model.) Patented in GermanyApril 17, 1839,11'0. 49,294; in France July 5, 1889,1T0 199,408, and in England October 31,1889, No. 17,235.
T0 at whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, CARL IVI'JSTEMANN, a citizen of the German Empire, and a resident of Oberhausen, in Germany, have invented new and useful Improvements in Hats, (for which I have obtained a patent in Germany, No. 49,294, dated April 17, 1889; in France, No. 199,408, dated July 5, 1889, and provisional protection in Great Britain, No. 17,235, dated October 31, 1889,) of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in hats, and has for its object to provide means whereby the lining, of the hat can be utilized as a traveling-cap. I attain this object by the means illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in WhlCl1- Figure 1 is avertical section of the hat and traveling-cap; and Fig. 2, a plan of the under side thereof, partly in section.

The hat-brim a, preferably the front portion 1) thereof, so as to increase 'its stiifness and thereby prevent it breaking, through saluting, I form double, and on the inner edge with a slit c,which forms a pocket and serves for the reception of the peak 0 of the traveliug-cap. The crown d of the said travelingcap fits into the crown of the hat and when placed in position forms the lining of the hat.
