After the sprayed-on layer had dried, the plants were sprinkled with a conidial suspension of the fungus Botrytis cinerea, and placed at 22° to 24° C. in a chamber of high humidity to obtain optimum conditions for promoting fungus growth. After 5 days, the disease had spread to such a great extent on the untreated plants that the necroses covered the major portion of the leaves.

- 10 ml of the mixture of nutrient solution and active ingredient was introduced into sterile test tubes and inoculated with one drop of a spore suspension containing 10 6 conidia or cells. After 120 hours' incubation, samples were taken from those tubes exhibiting no visible fungus growth and transferred to fungus nutrient media.
