SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 435,045, dated August 26, 189D.

Application ild June 27, 1889. Serial No. 315,759. (No model.)

To a/ZZ whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, ROBERT MUEssE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Fayetteville, in the county of Fayette and State of Texas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Flows, of which the following is a speciication.

This invention relates to certain improvements in plows; and it consists of the novel construction and combination of parts, as will fully appear' from the following explanation and accompanying illustration, in which- Figure l is a side elevation of myimproved plow. Fig. 2 is a vertical longitudinal sectional View. Fig. 3 is a sectional elevation taken just in rear of the standard or foot-bar of the plow. Fig. et isa detail sectional view showing the bolt and block attachment of the plow proper to the foot-bar or standard; and Fig. 5 is a detail perspective View of the plow-foot brace, more fully disclosing its adjusting-apertures. Fig. 6 is' avdetail perspective view of the cultivator attachment.

In carrying ont my invention I employ a beam or stock A, which is of suitable construction and to which is connected the standard or foot-bar B. The standard B is of approximately U shape, being formed with arms or branches l) b extending upward from the curved cross portion, uniting the lower ends of said arms or branches and embracing at their slightly-diverging upper ends the beam A, to which they are secured by a single boltc, the latter thus serving as a pivotal point for the foot-bar or standard. To this foot bar or standard is applied a bracerod O, one end having an eye received between the arms or branches of the foot-bar or standard and a bolt d passing also through said arms. The other end of the brace C has a flat or plate-like portion d tting against the under side of the beam or stock Ain rear of the plow proper, and having a number of adj listing-apertures d2, which are engaged by a bolt d3, projecting from the under side of the beam or stock, whereby the foot-bar or standard, with the plow4 proper, can be adj usted at its lower end forward or rearward,

varying the angle of presentation of the plow to the ground, as may be desired.

D is the plow proper, which rests near its lower end or point upon the forward orlower end of the foot-bar or standard B, and embedded at one end in a block c upon the under side of the plow is a bolt f, which reaches out between the arms or branches of the said bar or standard and is suitably nutted. This arrangement permits the vertical adjustment of the plow according to the depth of penetration it is desired to impart to the same.

E is a rudder or landside-bar,which has its upwardly-inclined forward end connected by a pivot-bolt g to and between the arms or branches of the foot-bar or standard B. At the extreme rear end of the landside-bar E, upon its lower edge, is a rearwardly-widened or flared portion h, in order to steady thelandside. This landside-bar E is connected and held adj ustably to the rear end ot` the beam or stock A by a rod E', the upper end of which is held in position by nuts t' t', and the lower end having a bolt j engaging a curved slot j in a plate-extension 7o of the upper edge of the said landside-bar, whereby the plow can be adjusted to run shallow or deep.

Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

In a plow, the oombinatiomwith the beam, of a plow-standard carried thereby and adj ustable in relation thereto, a plow adj ustably and removably secured to the standard, and an adjustable land-bar, all arranged and adapted to operate substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
