M. HOPHEIMBR. GAME COUNTER.
- No. 431,893. Patented mm, 1890.
wnmzssss: ,(O ":lVENTORz. 07 m W 01 g Q I 1 flv U ATTORNEYS PATENT OFFICE.
UNITED STATES MAX HOFI-IEIMER, OF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA.
GAME-COUNTER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 431,893, dated July 8, 1890.
Application filed July 2, 1888, Renewed December 16, 1889. Serial No. 333,845. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, MAX HOFHEIMER, a citizen of the United States, residing in the city and county of Philadelphia, State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Game-Counters, which improvement is fully set forth in the following specification and accompanying drawings.
My invention consists of a game-counter formed of a slotted plate, a frame supporting the same, movable counters, and means for preventing displacement of the counters, as will be hereinafter fully set forth.
Figures 1 and 2 represent top and bottom views, respectively, of a game-counter em-- bodying my invention. Fig. 3 represents a transverse section thereof on line at m, Fig. 1.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in the several figures.
Referring to the drawings, A represents a frame, and B represents a plate supported thereon and formed with longitudinally-extending slots (1, the number whereof may be increased or decreased, as desired. One end of each slot is enlarged, as at b, so as to receive and locate the counters C on the plate B. Each counter is constructed of heads 0 0, connected by necks (I, said heads being above and below the plate, and the neck (Z within one of the slots a, so that the heads overlap the walls of said slot, whereby the counter is retained i n position and permitted to be moved according to the count, as to points, number of games, (be.
Secured to the frame is a strip D, which occupies the inner side of one end of said frame and covers the enlargements b of the slots a, whereby, while the counters may be moved from end to end of the slots proper, they are prevented from entering said enlargements and dropping through the same, the strip also providing an indicator, as numbers or other marks may be placed thereon, as may be required in certain games.
The counters are adapted to be made of one piece of wood, iron, hard rubber, or other suitable material, thus possessing strength, and each counter presents two faces, on each of which a number may be marked, and each head is supported 011 two walls, whereby pressure exerted on the counters in sliding or moving the same is not liable to break down .the plate.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. A game-counter having a frame, a plate with slots enlarged at one end, and counters adapted to be detached from said plate at said enlarged end of the slots, substantially as described.
2. A game-counter having a plate with slots, each of which is enlarged at one of its ends, and sliding counters with double heads adapted to be detached from said plate at said enlarged ends, substantially as described.
3. A game-counter having a slotted plate, a frame supporting the same, sliding counters on said plate, and a strip, said plate having its slot enlarged at one end and said strip covering the enlargement, substantially as described.
MAX HOFHEIMER.
