REMEDY FOR DIPHTHERIA.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 429,152, dated June 3, 1890.
Application filed October 7, 1889- Serial No. 326,266. (No specimens.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, LUCINDA M. PIERSON, of Goleta, Santa Barbara county, State of California, my present place of residence, have invented a new and useful Composition of Matter to be Used for the Treatment of Diphtheria or Diphtheritis, Sore Throat, and all Kindred Throat Diseases, of which the following is a specification.
The composition consists of the following ingredients, combined in the proportions stated, viz: alum, ten drains; nitrate of silver, one drain; nitrate of potash, one dram; golden seal, two drains; black pepper, one dram; borax, one dram; table-salt, two drams, each of which must be separately powdered as fine as possible, and all thoroughly mixed into one powder. Care must also be taken that the several articles used are pure.
The powder obtained by the mixture of the ingredients, used as stated above, is the medicine, and maybe used in the following treatment: Give a mild cathartic first.
