IMPROVEMENT IN MEDICATED OILS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent N 0. 201,194, dated March 12, 1878; application filed a September 6, 1877.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, JULEs H. NORMAND and LEON DUFILHO, residents of the town of Natchitoches, parish of Natchitochcs and State of Louisiana, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Medicinal Oil; and we do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and correct description of the same.
This invention relates to that class of compounds used in the cure of cuts, burns, bruises, wounds, &c.; and it consists in acomposition formed by mixing pure olive-oil with trifolium, arnica-flowers, and angelica-root.
The preparation of our oil consists in the maceration of about three ounces of trifolium, five ounces of arnica-flowers, and three ounces of angelica-root in about three gallons of the very purest of quality of olive-oil. This infusion is allowed to stand for an indefinite period of time, the longer the better, as thereby the several ingredients will more thoroughly unite.
Our preparation is applied by saturating a piece of linen therewith, and by bandaging the same over the cut, or sore, or whatever else it JULES H. NORMAND. LEON DUFILHO.
