Description
(No Model.) 4
R. NEILSON.
TOOTHBD WHEEL.
No. 426,394. Patented Apr. 22, 1890.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ROBERT NEILSON, OF REYNOLDSTON, PENNSYLVANIA.
TOOTHED WHEEL.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 426,394, dated April 22, 1890. Application filed September 2, 1889. Serial No. 322,762. (No model.)
T0 all wiz/0m it may concern:
Be it known that I, ROBERT NEILsoN, a
citizen of the United States, residing at Reynoldston, in the county of Allegheny and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Toothed Wheels; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it pertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, Which form a part of this specification. My invention relates to an improvement in stub-wheelsg and it consists in a Wheel provided with a series of adjustable and detachable teeth or stubs, as Will be fully set forth hereinafter.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a side elevation of my improved stub-wheel constructed in accordance with my invention, in which a portion of the clamping-ring has been removed the better to show the manner of securing and adjusting the stubs oi' the same. Fig. 2 is a central sectional View of the same. Fig 3 is a face View ofa portion of the clamping-ring.
'lo put my invention into practice, I provide a Wheel having a part A, provided with aseries of pockets arranged at regular intervals about the perimeter, in which are placed a number of stubs b. Over these pockets and inner ends of the stubs b isa clampin g-rin g c, seated` ing the same. The stubs b are each provided with a taper Which corresponds to the taper of the pockets, and When in position are prevented from being withdrawn by the clamping-ring c.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, 1s-
A toothed Wheel consisting of the part A, having` a continuous annular recess formed in one of its lateral faces and a series of tapering pockets arranged at one side of said annular recess, a clamping-ring c, iitted in said annular recess and arranged iiush With the lateral face and edge of the part A, a series of tapering teeth h, fitted snugly in the pockets, and the transverse securing-bolts, sub stantially as described.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I hereunto afiix my signature this 15th day of April, AID. 1889.
ROBERT NEILSON.
In presence of C. C. LEE, M. E. HARRISON.
