SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 425,575, dated April 15, 1890.

To all whom it may concern.-

Be it known that LNYILLIAM F. LOTT, of Riverton, in the county of Burlington and State of New Jersey, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Toys or Games; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, making a part of this specification.

This invention relates to that class of toys or games in which it is required that a set of balls or marbles shall be rolled by the movement of the base that supports them into certain definite positions in order to \lll the game. It consists in' the novel combination and arrangement of the several features of the device, as hereinafter described and claimed, to constitute a game which I shall designate as Pussy \Vants a Corner, or Next-Door Neighbor.

In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a plan view of the game-board, and Fig. 2a transverse section thereof in line as a: of Fig. l. 1

A represents the board constituting the base of the toy, and which is preferably rectangular in form.

13 represents asinuous wall, which may be made of sheet metal, thin wood, or pasteboard, and which is secured to project vertically from the board and form an inclosure thereon having the configuration shown in Fig. 1- via, with four equal pockets 0 C C 0 extending radially toward the four corners of the board from a common open central space D, said pockets being produced by bending the walls in four corresponding curved loops, each to inclose and form one of said. pockets.

E represents a wheel turning freely upona central vertical pivot-pin F, fixed at the point of intersection of imaginary lines bisecting the pockets. This wheel is preferformed in the base-board at equal distances from the pivot F, one in each pocket 0 midway between its two sides. Each of these depressions or seats ll H is distinguished from the remainder by a distinctive color (see dotted lines at each) or otherwise distinctively marked, and a ball or marble K of the same color or mark is provided to rest therein. A fifth smaller marble, called a tagger L, is also provided to rest normally between any two of the wings G G of the central wheel.

The game consists in first placing the several balls or marbles K K each upon a seat or depression H of a different color--viz., red ball upon the blue spot, and so on-with the tagger or small marble L between the wings of the wheel, then by moving the board A causing each marble to roll into its appropriate corner back of the seat whose color corresponds with the marble, and, finally,-

causingthe several marbles to roll each to its appropriate seat, so as to rest therein without allowing the others to escape from their corners, the tagger L being meantime kept in place between the wings of the wheel.

The base-board A may be circular in outline or of other pleasing form, instead of rectangular, as shown, without departing from my invention.

I claim as my invention* i. The combination, in a game device, of

a basal board, a sinuous wall mounted upon the board to inclose four pockets radiating at opposite points from a common central space, a central wheel having radial wings and mounted to revolve upon a vertical axis fixed to the board, a series of balls, one for each pocket, each distinguished by a separate characteristic mark or color and adapted to rest in a correspondingly marked seat or depression in the pocket, and a fifth ball to rest be tween the vanes of the wheel, substantially in the manner and for the purposcherein set forth.
