EMBALMING-TABLE.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters` Patent No. 421,393, dated February 18, 1890.

Application led October 13,1883. Serial No. 287,994. (No model.)

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, GEORGE FERGUSON, of Moravia, county of Cayuga, in the State of New York, a citizen of the United States, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Embalming-'Iables of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure I is a side elevation of the table closed. Fig. II is an end elevation. Fig. III is atop plan view of the table extended. Fig. IV is a bottom plan view of the table closed. Fig. V is a vertical longitudinal section of the two boxes detached. Fig. VI is a vertical transverse section of the same detached from each other.

My invention relates to embalming-tables adapted to be extended to any length desired and closed by one part sliding within another.

My object is to produce an improved table adjustable to any size, and which can be closed into a small package when not in use, and within which I can carry-all necessary implements and apparatus.

My invention consists in the several novel features of construction and operation hereinafter described, and which are specifically set forth in the claim hereto annexed.

It is constructed as follows: The table is constructed of two part-s A B, each part being of a rectangular box form A, being open at one end, and B being of suoli size as to i slide freely through that end within the part A, and in Fig. II I show a tongue-and-groove joint connecting the parts A B. The top of these parts A B is perforated. The partAis mounted upon the legs l, which are hinged to the bottom of part A, and legs 2 are hinged within and support the outer end of the part B, the legs l folding over upon the bottom and the legs 2 folding within the part B. Vhen the table is closed, as shown in Fig. IV, by placing a board a, as shown in section in Fig. II, so as to cover the opening within the sides of the part B, I create a box within which to carry anything desired.

The combination of two boxes A B, open at their inner ends, one fitting and adapted to slide within the other, the top of one lying under the top of the other, legs hinged and folding upon the outer box, legs hinged to and folding within and upon the top of the inner boX, a perforated top to both boxes,with the removable cover closing the bottom of the boxes and retaining tools, dpe., placed within the inner box, substantially as described.
