IMPROVEMENT IN MUFFS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 41,766, dated March 1, 1864.
To all whom t may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN W. GAY, ot' Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented, made, and applied to use a certain Improvement in Muii's; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the said invention, reference being had to the annexed drawing, making part of this specitication, wherein I have represented an end view of a mutt' formed with iny improvement.
M utt's ihave heretofore been made with a lining ofsilk extendingl through the inside and over the ends to the edges of the fur covering. In some instances a strip of 'fur has been introduced at the middle of the inside of the mud', but this is liable to become motheaten, because not accessible for beating or brushing, and such linings admit cold air around the wrists.
The nature of my said invention consists in a ring or band of fur applied at the ends ot' the mutt' around the opening through said muti', which band of fur surrounding the wrists of the person carrying the mud excludes the cold air and renders the mutt' much more com- )rtable to the party using the same.
