IMPROVED SAIL CRINGLE AND CLEW.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 41,364', dated January 26, 1864.
To all whon it may concern:
Be it known that I,FREDEmC CHANDLER,
of Charlestown, in the county of Middlesex and State o f Massachusetts, have invented certain new and useful Improvements on Cringles and Clews for Sails; and I do hereby declare' that the following is a full and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of y rezereuce marked thereon.
The nature of my invention is a metallic 4 cringle, designed to take the plaeeoi the rope cringle and elew now in use. It is formed of two parts, each part containing cavities on 'the inside for the rrope on the sail to tviu. These parts are put on the edge of the sail, grasping the rope and duclrV between the cringle, the parts held together by screws.,
