Slrecillcalion forming part of' Letters Patent No. 41,104, dated January 5, 1864; antcdated December 5, 11503. Y
To all whom it may concern/s Bc it known that I, VILLIAM V. SPAULD- ING, of Galesburg, county of Knox, -and State ot Illinois, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Vashing-Machines; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the saine, reference being had to the annexed drawing, making a part of this specication, in which the ligure is a sectional View.
Arepresents the tub; B, the washing-rollers; C, the rub-board; D, the rub-board and frame attached; E, the oscillating braces att-ached to i'raine D; F, the guiderollers; G, the guidegrooves; H, the handle.
The tub is placed on legs of a convenient` height to suit the operator.
The Inode of washing with said machine :is to raise the rub board C to a perpendicular position, throwing it back onto the oscillating braces E, which brings it out of the way of the operator While placing the clothes on the roller B;thentakehold of the handle H, bringing the rub-board down onto the clothes; then work the rub-b a1d (which is kept in :its place by means of the guide-groove G and guideroller F) back and forth until the clothes are sufficiently washed.
What l claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The oscillating braces E, guidegrooves G- and guide-rollers F, in combination with rollers B and rub-boardC, substantially as and for the purpose specified.
