PORTABLE COOKING STOVE AND UTENSILS.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 404,578, dated .T une 4, 1889. Application filed November 7,1888. Serial No. 290,235. (No model.) Patented in England September 22, 1888, No. 13,728.

To all whom, it may concern:

Be it known that I, ALFRED SAVILL TOM- KINS, a citizen of England, captain in the Viotoria Rilies, residing at Holmwood, Caterham,

5 county of Surrey, England, have invented new and useful Improvements in Portable Cooking-Stoves, (for which I have made application for Letters Patent in Great Britain,

which patent when granted will bear date22d io day of September, 1888, No. l8,728,) of which the following is a specification.

This invention has for its object to provide a novel, simple, and eflicient cooking-stove especially designed for' use by military men or r 5 travelers in tents or wagons; and it consists in the features of construction and combination. of devices hereinafter described, and specifically pointed out in the claim, reference being made to the accompanying drawings, in

3 5 On the top of the stove are placed boilers K, each of which, as shown in Fig. 2, is made near its upper edge with an outward bulge or corrugation n, and above it with two walls p p', forming a trough, the inner wall of which p is perforated with numerous holes, allow- 4o ing such liquid as may enter the trough to iiow back into the boiler. The cover of the boiler has two lips proj ectiu g down from it, the outer lip entering the trough between p and p and the inner lip extending down within p. 45 Should the liquid contents of the boiler be agitated, the waves are arrested by the lips of the cover and the sides of the trough, so that none of the liquid is spilled.

At the back and sides of the stove there is 5o a water-casing R, which protects against lire any combustible material in the neighborhood of the stove.

Having thus described the nature of. this invention and the best means Iknow of car- 55 rying the same into practical eifect,Iclai1n- A portable cooking apparatus consisting of fire-place F, iiues O C C3, chimney C2, ovens Ff, and boilers K, in combination with watercasing R, substantially as described.
