PORTABLE COOKING-STOVE.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 400,271, dated March 26, 1889.

Be it known that I, ALFRED SAVILL TOM- KINS, a citizen of England,'captain in the Victoria Rilies, residing at Hohnwood, Caterham,

5 county of Surrey, England, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Portable Cooking-Qtoves, (for which I have made application for Letters Patent in Great Britain, which patent wh en granted will bear date 26th 1o day of March, 1888, No. 43323,) of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to portable cooking apparatus especially suitable for military use or for travelers, as it can be used in the open 15 or with complete safety in a tent or on a wagon.

Figures l and 2 of the accompanying drawings are vertical sections on planes at right angles to one another, and Fig. 3 is a sectional plan of a cooking apparatus or camp-stove 2o according to my invention.

F is the fire-place, which can be supplied with fuel through the door O and down the inclined chute N, the draft bein g regulated by the ash-pit door S. The hot product-s of coin- 2 5 bustion ascend the central flue-space, C, from which two side spaces, C C branch each way, and finally pass away by the chimney C2. On each side of the fire F is a space, T, which can be used as an oven or for drying materials placed in it. The space'on each 3o side of the flue C is divided byhorizontal partitions, so as to form four ovens, F', in which are placed cooking vessels or dishes B2. On the upper part of the stove are placed boilers K. At the back and sides of the stove there 3 5 is a separate water-casing, R, which effectually protects from iire any combustible material in the neighborhood of the stove.

Having thus described the nature of this invention and the best means I know for carry- 4o ing the same into practical effect, I claim- A portable cooking apparatus consisting of a lire-place, F, flues C and C', chimney C2, ovens F and boilers K, in combination with the water-casing R, substantially as described. 4 5
