This invention relates to improvements in `z 5 breech-loading firearms, and especially to improvements in the breech, the barrel, and the repeating mechanism.
The novel features of the invent-ion are more fully pointed-out in the following speciiication and claims, and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a longitudinal section of the fire-arm. It is obvious that when necessary any number of rings vl may be employed to support the tube P. The casing may also be provided with recesses, like the ring i', in order to produce a better circulation of air. It is very essential in this construction that the tube B should be connected to the barrel A only at one' end. lf. both the endsof the'tube (i. e., the mouth of the tube also) be screwed to the barrel or secured to the same by any other tubular chamber of the breech-piece by' means means,-the barrel A would bev curved in its middle part after having discharged a small number of shots, owing to the greater and norerapid extension of the barrel A in comparison with t-he tube B, which is not' heated at all, oronly to a small extent. The lastmentioned circumstance renders this construction particularly fit for magazine-rifles, the barrels of which become heated after a short use to such an extentthat'the rifleman cannot touch it with the naked hand.

Having now particularly described and ascertained the nature ot' this invention and in what manner the same is to be performed, we declare that what we claim is l. breech-bolt S, of the firing-pin a and a nut, b, secured to the end of the tiring-pin, and having a flange lying againstthe endv of the breech-bolt, said flange having .lateral tappcts h b,engaging the supplemental breechbolt, substantially as shown and described.

The combination,with a curved magazine for containing the cartridges arranged in an oblique position and having their pointed ends turned upward, of a spring, 71, and a follower, 1T, of the form shown, having a loose pivotal connection at or about its middle portion with the spring h, substantially as shown and described. l
5. In amagazine-gun, the combination, with the magazine-chamber M, of the coiled spring h, havin gan oblong form in cross-section, conlower fi, pivotally connected to said spring at a point between the ends of said follower, substantially as described.
6. In`eombi-nation--with the gun-frame and breech-bolt, -the head-piece P, having cams p, the levers o o, rigidly mounted o n spindles yn n within the path of said cams, thepawls m. m., mounted on said spindles over the rear end of the magazine, and a feeding-springact-ing upon the cartridges, substantially as, described.

The combination, with thel frame and rear end of the magazine and rigidly mounted on spindles -n n, the head-piece l?, having cams p, the levers o o, rigidly mounted 011 said spindles and'having their ends lying in the path of said cams, and stops vpivotally mounted in proximity to said levers o o,where by the latter maybe locked in position to arrest the cartridges in their passage to the breech, substantially as described.
